Canadian Refugee System
People who are subject to persecution, such as torture or death, in their home countries can seek protection in Canada. These people are known as refugees.
A foreign national who is currently in Canada that is unwilling to return to their home country due to a well-founded fear of persecution can make a refugee claim.
If a person is outside Canada and would like to immigrate to Canada as a refugee, they could apply for resettlement.
If you know someone who may qualify as a refugee and you’d like to bring them to Canada, you could apply for sponsorship.
